On 3 November 2021 the Walkway commemorated Kokoda Day and His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia – the Walkway’s patron – provided a recorded address. The day was also a day of celebration as it was the 25th anniversary of the ceremony to open stage one of the Walkway plus the day saw the launch of Their Spirit Lives On, a history of the 25 years of the Walkway.
