Volunteers’ great efforts with poppies @ the Walkway!

The Walkway welcomed two groups who assisted with preparations in the lead up to Kokoda Day.
In the lead up to Kokoda Day earlier this month, two groups of volunteers assisted with preparations.
On Wednesday 31 October, about 40 members of the local Chinese community, and 10 staff from the Teachers’ Mutual Bank on their volunteer day, came to the Walkway today to plant 2500 red silk poppies. They were assisted by Canada Bay Council staff using garden forks to loosen the surface.
During the day, the volunteers were treated to morning tea then a BBQ lunch in appreciation of their significant efforts.
The Walkway Board appreciates the time donated by these two groups. The operation of the Walkway relies on volunteers, and if other groups are interested, please contact us for further details.
